starring Buster Keaton
directed by Buster Keaton
83 minutes
A young man (Buster Keaton) travels west and winds up working on a cattle ranch. His knows nothing about cattle ranching. It takes him a while to get used to the life of a cowhand. His biggest test involves him singlehandedly herding 1000 head of cattle from the train station in Los Angeles to the stockyards. Lots of things go wrong but in the end he gets the job done.
I saw this movie as the front half of a double feature at the Silent Cinema Showcase at the AFI Silver Theater. The other film in the double feature also starred Buster Keaton.
I enjoyed the final chase scene, which probably lasted 15-20 minutes, very much but I thought the movie dragged a bit before that.
