Collection Completed

starring M. Emmet Walsh, Audra Lindley
directed by Mary Lambert

Jonas (M. Emmet Walsh) retires after 47 years of working for the same company only to discover that Anita (Audra Lindley), his wife, has more pets than he realized. Jonas' can't cope with being at home with Anita and her pets most of the day. His stress level starts to rise until he comes up with a solution, taxidermy.

Thoughts

I liked the build up in this episode but the twist in this story was a little too sudden for me. It seemed to come out of left field. I think both actors did a decent job but the way the story was paced left something to be desired. It is a better episode than most of the others in this season but it still falls short for me.

This is the final episode of the first season of Tales from the Crypt. I only really like one of the six episodes from this season. I'm not sure that I will be coming back to this series in the near future.

Notes

The story in this episode is based on a story of the same name by Al Feldstein, Bill Gaines, and Graham Ingels. The original story was printed in Vault of Horror 25 (Jul 1952).

M. Emmet Walsh has been in more than a dozen movies I have seen but I don't think he was the star of any of them. I saw him most recently in Raising Arizona (1987).

Audra Lindley is probably best known for playing Helen Roper on Three's Company. I also remember seeing her in an episode of Friends but I think that's about it.
