Poltergeist III -- DiPesto Nothing

Bert gets on Agnes' nerves. She thinks that he's getting treated better  than she is at the Blue Moon Detective Agency. She decides (without consulting with them) to take a case that Maddy and David reject. Mrs. Renborn, the client, needs someone to prove that her home is haunted. She takes the case despite the fact that the thought of having to track down a ghost gives her the creeps.

Bert shows up while Agnes is trying to solve the case. She resents having him around at first but quickly changes her mind.

Thoughts

This episode was a little too silly for me. David and Maddie are in it but only briefly at the beginning and the end. I think it's great that they tried something different but in my book this is a swing and a miss. I think that the writers and the director are mostly to blame for the quality of this episode.

The Straight Poop

Rona Barrett visits the office of the Blue Moon Detective Agency. She brings a camera crew with her. She wants to get to the bottom of what's going on in the office, between David and Maddie. She tries interviewing David but he tells her that he will need to talk to Maddie. Rona Barrett relents and goes to talk to Maddie. She asks Maddie about her relationship with David, how they met, how things are going between them, and how she feels about him.

Rona Barrett leaves Maddie's office and talks to Agnes DiPesto for a few minutes. She asks her what it's like working for Maddie and David and about her relationship with the two of them. She goes to see David after talking to Agnes. She asks him about what it's like working with Maddie.

Moonlighting 3.08

It’s a Wonderful Job

Maddie has a bad day. No one in at the Blue Moon Agency is happy because she has insisted that they work the week of Christmas. David tries to talk her into changing her mind but she won’t.

Maddie was planning to visit her Aunt Ruth in the hospital later that day but then she finds out that her aunt died. Maddie leaves the office and goes to a bar for a drink. A man named Albert approaches her. He offers to listen to her talk about whatever is bothering her, but she’s not interested in his offer. She wishes that she had just sold the Blue Moin Detective Agency instead of keeping it.

Moonlighting 3.07

Atomic Shakespeare

Padua, 1593. Lucentio (Burt) wants to marry Bianca (Agnes) but her father won’t let her marry until Kate (Maddie), her older sister, is married. Kate is a bit wild and intimidating. The men of Padua are not interested in her but then Petruchio (David) comes to town and Lucentio sees an opportunity.

Petruchio gets Kate’s father’s blessings to marry her but Kate is very resistant to Petruchio’s attempts to woo her.

Petruchio and Kate get married even though (a) she is bound and gagged at the time and (b) he shows up three hours late for the ceremony. 

The marriage starts out rocky but eventually Kate grows to appreciate Petruchio. They return together to Padua for the marriage of Bianca and Lucentio.

Moonlighting 3.06

Big Man on Mulberry Street

David angers Maddie once again, this time for showing up late to a meeting with a client, smelling like booze, and without the photos she promised the client he would have. They argue about it after they get back to the office. Later, David tells Maddie that he has to fly to New York to attend the funeral of his ex-wife's brother.

Maddie and Allyce search David’s desk for wedding pictures, without success. Maddie goes home and has a dream about David which involves him dancing with another woman to the tune of Big Man on Mulberry Street. Towards the end of the dream the woman leaves him and Maddie takes her place.

David hangs out with some friends in New York on the night before the funeral. They talk about Jimmy. David finds Maddie waiting for him when he gets back to his hotel room. She tries to explain why she came to New York. He tells her about his marriage.

Moonlighting 3.05

All Creatures Great.. and Not So Great

Father McDonovan, a Catholic priest, turns to Maddie and David for help. A woman came to him and confessed that she was thinking about killing herself. Father McDonovan didn't get to see her face doesn't know what she looks like, just that she caught a cab from the church.

Maddie and David go through endless log books from taxi companies until they find the fare. They go to the house where the taxi dropped the woman off. Everything seems normal. The woman is married and happily so, or at least that's what the observe from a distance.

They tell Father McDonovan what they found. He's surprised but accepts it. The next day they learn that Mrs. Adamson blew her head off with a shotgun. Maddie and David visit Mr. Adamson but they don't learn anything new that changes their mind.

Moonlighting 3.04

Yours, Very Deadly

Gail Woodley hires Maddie and David to figure out who has been sending her love letters. She's been married for 10 yearsGail has been responding to the letters but she's had enough. She wants it to stop. Maddie and David find the guy. His name is Peter Macy. He's deaf and mute. They tell him to back off. 

Allyce has an affair with Herbert Viola, a temp who works at the Blue Moon Detective Agency. She is very aggressive with her physical affection for him. He doesn't know how to respond.

Mrs. Woodley turns up dead the next day. Maddie and David go looking for Peter Macy. They find him dead. They start to think that maybe he didn't kill Gail. Maddie and David decide to stake out the post office box where the letters were being sent. That's how they found Peter Macy.

They don't have long to wait before Ken Woodley, Gail's husband shows up. They corner him. He confesses but then he takes off running.

Moonlighting 3.03

Symphony in Knocked Flat

Maddie is tired of guys who don't put out, enough effort when taking her out on date. David finds out about this and suggests that she let him take her out. He promises to make it worth her wild but in return she has to go on his kind of date. She agrees to his terms. 

David runs around town trying to get tickets to something (think ballet or opera) that Maddie would like. He winds up buying a couple tickets off a scalper, not realizing that the seats aren't together.

David picks up Maddie in a limousine. They go to a concert but things get awkward when David realizes that the seats aren't together. They wind up getting kicked out of the music hall.

The next day two pairs of FBI agents come to see Maddie and David, separately. David and Maddie decide that one of the pair's of agents must have been fakes. They rush over to Maddie's home, without saying anything to either pair of FBI agents, real or phony. Maddie finds a parking stub in her purse.

Moonlighting 3.02

The Man Who Cried Wife

James Bower hires David and Maddie to figure out what's going on with Melissa, his wife. He thought he killed her a week ago but he's been getting phone calls from her since the night he killed her.

James went back to the spot where he buried her body but it wasn't there. He doesn't know what to do. Maddie is okay taking the case until she learns that he hit and killed his wife. Maddie wants to drop the case. She wants David to drop it too but he insists on pursuing it.

David stays on the case despite Maddie's orders to back off. He has a wire tap set up. The next time James gets a call from Melissa he gets the number and address from where she is calling. David, Maddie, and James head out there but things kind of go sideways when Melissa spots them and takes off in her car.

Moonlighting 3.01

The Son Also Rises

David Addison, Sr. comes to town. He's there because he is getting married. David Addison, Jr. avoids his father at first but Maddie works it so that Jr. has to talk to Sr. David learns that his father is getting remarried. He's delighted until he meets Stephanie, his father's bride to be.

David Jr. had a one-night-stand with Stephanie, years ago. He tells Maddie about how he met Stephanie (the first time around) and how he can't imagine Stephanie being his father's wife. He goes on a drinking binge but he recovers in time for the wedding. Maddie goes as his plus one.

David is his father's best man. David pulls Stephanie aside in the middle of the ceremony. He has to talk to her about what happened between them four years ago. She misunderstands and tells him about how she used to regularly get drunk and pick up men in a bar back in Philly. She also tells him about how she met his father.
