La Frontière
or The Border

14 Nov 1942

The meeting at Marie Germain's farm is interrupted by a knock at the door. Marie let's Rita in to her home. Rita explains who she is and that she needs help getting to Switzerland. Rita recognizes Crémieux and tells the others about how she saw him at the police station talking to Marchetti.

Marchetti tries once again to talk Servier into calling off the attack on the farm. He refuses so Marchetti runs and tells Müller about what is going on. Müller is interested and goes to the stakeout operation and takes over. He brings in a couple units of SS troops.

La Souricière
or The Mousetrap

13 Nov 1942

The French police, led by Marchetti, stake out Marie Germain's farm. They keep their distance but keep the place under surveillance, waiting for the right moment. Marchetti sends Crémieux to the farm to find out what he can. Rita talks to Marchetti but doesn't ask him about the letter from her mother. When he goes home later that night she is nowhere to be found.

Crémieux goes to the farm. He learns about the meeting that is planned. He unsuccessfully tries to talk them out of meeting with the Communists.

Raymond Schwartz receives a verbal warning from Chassagne. Schwartz is almost killed later in the episode by a bomb that goes off in his office less than a minute after he walked outside. He confronts Chassagne about the bomb but Chassagne warns Raymond that he carries a gun.

Des nouvelles d'Anna
or News from Anna

12 Nov 1942

Madme Morhange returns but she is very sick. She is brought to Daniel's home. He has her put in a bedroom and looks after her. She has two letters with her. One is from Rita's mother. The other is from Anna Crémieux. 

Marchetti takes a couple stabs at interrogating Albert Crémieux but he doesn't get anywhere. He goes to see Daniel, after learning from Servier that Daniel wants to see him. He takes the letters he finds there. One of his men forges a fake letter from Anna Crémieux. It is enough to fool Albert. He gives up everyone except Bériot who he says is soft and not involved in the Resistance.

Baisers volés
or Stolen Kisses

11 Nov 1942

Marcel doesn't know what to say at first when he sees Suzanne. He insists that she is innocent. The party leader says that the matter will have to wait until the evening and places Edmond in charge until then. Marcel and Suzanne are separated but later aloud to spend some time together.

Vernet stops by Marie's farm to warn her that the police and the Germans are searching for Vincent and the radio. He doesn't stay long. Marie and Vincent take advantage of being alone while Raoul is out running an errand to indulge themselves.

Marchetti, Loriot, and another plain clothes policeman stake out the park where Eliane is waiting for Raoul. They aren't sure if he will show but he does. They follow him to Crémieux's farm but keep their distance.

or He Is Caught Who Thinks to Catch

10 Nov 1942

Marie and Vincent arrive at the farm where Vincent's partner, who killed himself using the cyanide pill, was hiding. There they meet Vernet, a policeman who works for Marchetti but who is also working for the Resistance.

Daniel and Marcel Larcher argue about a few things. Marcel lets Sarah stay although she will have to hide while Marcel and his communist friends have meetings.

Marchetti asks Rita if she would like to keep the baby and get married. It makes her very happy and she says yes. She also asks him about her mother. He still doesn't have anything (honest) to tell her but he promises to ask Servier about it.

Le visiteur
or The Visitor

9 Nov 1942

Dr, Larcher and Sarah go to a farm to get milk, early on a Sunday morning. They find a wounded man hiding in the barn. He came from London. Larcher leaves Sarah with the man and goes to get his wife so that she can help him operate on the man who is in bad shape.

A man knocks on Bériot's door. He uses a pass phrase and explains that he is on a mission. Bériot takes him to see Marie. She is suspicious of him. He asks a lot of questions but won't tell her anything. She takes him to see Crémieux.

Müller is back. He has a brief meeting with Servier and Larcher, who is trying to get back to the man in the barn. Müller explains that he back and untouchable by Kollwitz. There were two men who parachuted in from England. One of them is dead and the other was captured at a farm. He wants Larcher to do what he can for the man to keep him alive.

La Libération
or The Liberation

July 25, 1942

Marie Germain and Hélène Crémieux escape from the school. They are forced to depart on foot because the car is being watched. Marie sends Sophie to Lucienne's home and then heads back to her farm. She tells Albert Crémieux about what happened.

Lucienne keeps an eye on Hélène until Jules returns. The Gestapo search the town for Hélène and they are nearing Jules and Lucienne's apartment. Jules hides Hélène in a closet which he then locks. The Gestapo shows up and starts to search but then Lucienne pretends that she is going into labor.  The Gestapo officers leave without searching the closet.

La Mission
or The Mission

The Jewish people being held at the school learn that they are to be taken to Poland. Albert Crémieux gets increasingly agitated about what is going to happen to his wife and daughter. Raymond brings Marie some information that he copied from his wife's papers, about the work his business is doing for the Germans. Marie passes that information on to Victor, her contact with the Resistance. She tries to convince Victor that they need to try and rescue Anna and Hélène but he isn't buying it.

Servier chastises Daniel Larcher for hiding Sarah Meyers in his house. Daniel returns home empty handed, unable to see Sarah or do anything for her. He talks to Hortense about it. She puts together a suitcase of clothing for Sarah.

Une évasion
or An Escape

Jul 23, 1942

Judith brings back food and news about the children to the adult Jewish prisoners. She says she will need a couple more women to help look after the children. Marianna Cohn tries to volunteer but Judith refuses the offer. Mrs. Cohn objects but Judith says that Marianna is hysterical and will just make the situation worse for the children. Marianna commits suicide minutes later in the bathroom, using a pair of scissors.

Ezéchiel, Marianna's husband, starts to act strange. Judith can see that he is up to something. She tells Doctor Larcher while he is at the school checking on people who are sick. Daniel and Judith corner Mr. Cohn. They make him promise not to try to escape.

Mille et une nuits
or A Thousand and One Nights

Bériot makes it back to his house the next morning. He tries to hide the truth from Lucienne but winds up telling her what happened. Crémieux makes it to Marie Germain's farm. He still doesn't know that his wife has been taken to the school. Marie agrees to go down the road try calling his house.

Bériot goes to the school. He talks to Anna Crémieux. She asks him to bring Hélène, her daughter, to the school. He sends Lucienne to pick up Hélène and bring her to the school. Lucienne gets there and finds Hélène but then Marchetti and a couple other policemen show up. They search the place. They know that Crémieux was one of the men who ran from the police the night before. They don't know that Bériot was the other one.

A Jour Sans Pain
or A Day Without Bread

Most of the Jewish people at the school are hungry but a few of them have food which they refuse to share with the others. Judith Morhange is made the spokesperson for the the people being held at the school. She gets a chance to talk to Jules Bériot. He can't offer much in the way of support. He has problems of his own.

The gendarmes decide that they need to store some mechanical supplies in the basement of the school. The printing press is still there. Bériot is given three hours to get the place cleared out. He talks to Crémieux about it. Crémieux has problems of his own. He needs to get his wife out of town because she is Jewish and originally from Austria.

Le Train
or The Train

20 July 1942

A train carrying foreign Jews stops in Villeneuve. Daniel Larcher suggests that they could be housed in the school until another train arrives to take them away. Bériot isn't happy with this plan but Larcher doesn't give him any choice in the matter. Larcher doesn't know about the printing press in the basement of the school that Crémieux is using to print anti-German propaganda.

Raymond Schwartz finds out that Jeanine has helped her father to get a piece of his business. He also starts an affair with the new housekeeper after finding out that Jeanine is having an affair with Chassagne, her lawyer. His leg is damaged and he is an invalid for the present.
