A Model Family 1.03

Episode 3

Dong-ha escapes from the guys chasing him. He goes home and walks into the backyard. He sees some men walking through an adjacent yard with what looks like it might be a body. Kwang-chul is with them.

Joo-Hyun continues to look for answers, despite advice from higher ups telling her to drop and bury the case.

Dong-ha is getting ready to take Yeon-soo to school the next day when he notices something going on at the house next door. He and Yeon-soo, his daughter, find out from the police that the man next door is missing. Yeon-soo heard someone noise but she only tells her father after they have gotten in the car and left.

Kwang-chul finds out about Dong-ha's visit to the money laundering operation. Dong-ha calls the police from a pay phone and suggests that they check up on the house that Kwang-chul is currently living in. Joo-hyun eventually finds out about the anonymous tip and does some detective work. She figures out that it was Dong-ha who called in the tip.

The body cam footage from the officers who are sent to visit the house where Dong-ha is staying reveals that Kwang-chul and his men have some of the mail that was intended for Dong-ha.

Kwang-chul's bosses start to consider getting rid of him, because his operation (specifically the disappearance of the guy who was growing cannabis) has brought the attention of the police.

Dong-ha starts to look for a place to move his family. Joo-hyun breaks into the house of the guy who was killed. She's looking around when Kwang-chul decides to do the same thing. She manages to hide in place until Kwang-chul leaves.

Dong-ha gets stopped by Kwang-chul on his way back into the neighborhood that night. Dong-ha tells Kwang-chul and his men about what happened, after they rough him up. They are getting ready to bury him alive when Kwang-chul changes his mind. He gives Dong-ha a phone and tells him that he's his boss now.

Thoughts

There were some really interesting twists introduced in this episode. Dong-ha, Kwang-chul, and Joo-hyun all seem to know more about one another than they once did. Eun-joo wasn't in this episode terribly much, especially after the first 10-15 minutes. Maybe she will play a bigger part in the next episode.

I wonder what will come out of the discussion among Kwang-chul's bosses. Will they or how soon will they try to get rid of him? How will Dong-ha expain his new phone to his family? Which one of the dead men was it that Eun-joo was involved with? Was it the undercover cop? Was it the gangster?

I have no reason to stop watching at this point. I want to see where the story goes next and how the varying relationships continue to evolve.
