White Bear
Victoria wakes up. She can't remember who she is or anything about where she is. She goes outside. People are watching her from a distance, taking pictures and video of her with their phones. A masked man drives up, gets out of his vehicle, and pulls out a shotgun. She starts running. People see what he's doing but they do nothing to help her.
Victoria meets a couple at a gas station. They try to help her. The man gets killed. The woman helps Victoria keep on the run from the man with the shotgun. Vitoria keeps remembering things but they aren't full memories, only scraps.
Victoria and the woman go to a power station. A man and a woman, wearing masks, and wielding electric knives. come after them. In the end it is revealed that Victoria and her boyfriend abducted a girl. Her boyfriend tortured and killed the girl. Victoria filmed the whole thing.
The episode ends with Victoria's memory getting wiped. The next day she starts all over again and goes through the same thing.
Thoughts
I couldn't help but notice that while Victoria is a person of color, it looked like everyone else in this episode was White. Maybe that's part of the message here.
I can only guess that wiping her memory is supposed to make her feel what it must have been like for the little girl whom her boyfriend killed.
I'm not crazy about this episode which more or less describes how I have felt about every episode of Black Mirror up to this point. I'm not a fan of "reality TV" but I have to imagine that it might strike people who are a little differently than it did me. I will admit that at one point I was intrigued by this episode but by the end it lost me.
