Le Déménagement
or The Move
Josephine is dead. Raymond asks that he be allowed to bury her without an autopsy, Servier says that he will do what he can to make that happen. Marchetti is not present.
Marcel wakes up. He is in a cell with Anselme, Raoul (Marie's son), and Simon (who was picked up for buying ration cards off the black market). They argue about killing roaches. Suzanne pulls some strings and gets in to see Marcel. She asks if it was her note that gave him away. He lies and tells her that it wasn't but that one of the cops recognized him.
The young men in the woods continue to practice acting under Claude's directions. Marie comes to visit them and tells Antoine about what happened to his sister, Josephine. She encourages him to move the camp soon.
Müller uses up all the morphine that Hortense brought him. She goes to Chassagne to get more but when he tries to molest her she fights him off and leaves without the morphine. She is later returns to Chassagne to get the morphine when she sees how bad it is getting for Heinrich.
Gustave and Tequiero pack up some things and leave home on foot.
Suzanne decides that she has to do something to get Marcel out of jail. She talks to the communists but they say no and give her a hard time for going to see Marcel without consulting with them first. She goes to see Jules Bériot. She tells him that Raoul Germain is also in the cell with Marcel. She asks him to pass that information along to Marie. Jules sends Marguerite to meet with Marie.
The healthy German prisoner escapes from Antoine's group. Daniel explains that he helped him get free because he thought Antoine and his men were going to kill him. The German prisoner shoots and wounds one of Antoine's men but Daniel is able to patch him up.
Marcel and the other three prisoners pass the time by holding a mock trial for a cockroach that Anselme wants to smash. Three German guards take away Simon in the middle of the trial. Marcel, Anselme, and Raoul hear him get shot.
The episode ends with Heinrich learning that Hortense has been lying to him about getting the morphine from Daniel.
Thoughts
Lucienne and Marchetti are not in this episode.
I have my doubts about Simon's fate. I was suspicious of him early on in this episode. I think he's an informant who was planted in that jail cell. I wouldn't be surprised if he shows up again.
I don't see any indications that either Marguerite or Claude are collaborators in this episode but I still have my doubts about both of them.
I'm not sure where Gustave and Tequiero are headed.
I don't think Heinrich is very happy to learn that Hortense has been lying to him about the source of the morphine. I think that he will be even angrier to learn that she got it from Chassagne.
These last couple episodes have been better than the first four of this season. The story moves forward another month starting in the next episode. I could take a break from it but I would rather not right now.
