Episode 9
Yong-soo sends his men off on a wild goose chase and then leaves with what cash he's got. He holes up in a hotel but his men come to get him because the head cartel has figured out where he's at. He falls asleep during the car ride. He wakes only to find himself locked in the backseat of the car. There is a large truck heading straight for the car.
Dong-ha and Eun-joo go to see their kids in the hospital. Deuk-soo is there with them. He fills them in on how things are going. Dong-ha asks Eun-joo to stay there, keep an eye on the kids, and trust him to take care of things.
Dong-ha returns home. He is packing up some things when Joo-hyun knocks on the door. She asks him to tell her what he's done, how he got involved with Kwang-chul. He tell her that he doesn't know what she's talking about.
Things heat up at the police department.
Kang-jun patches himself up and comes after Dong-ha. He promises to leave Dong-ha and his family alone if Dong-ha will just help him deal with Kwang-chul.
Yong-soo survive the car crash. He wakes up in a pit with Kang-jun. The messenger, who by this point has been revealed to also be a police detective, tells them that he only needs one of them. He throws a gun into the pit. Kang-jun gets to it first and kills Yong-soo.
Joo-hyun comes to see Eun-joo in the hospital. Eun-joo, unlike Dong-ha, tells her what she knows. Joo-hyun gets the evidence she needs from Kang-jun, in the form of a recorded phone conversation. It implicates Jung-kook, her friend, in the killing of Han-cheol.
Dong-ha plays ball with Kang-jun to some degree but the episode ends with Kang-jun getting murdered by Kwang-chul's men. Dong-ha sees it happen.
Thoughts
Who is going to get out of this alive? Who will be killed? Will they ever reveal what the dead undercover policeman's connection to Eun-joo was? Will the Park family find the money to pay for Hyun-woo's operation? Where will Deuk-soo's story end? What role will he play in the end of this show?
This episode was not as intense as the last one but it had some pretty big moments.
