The Siege
Sisko gives a pep talk to the crew of Deep Space Nine. He warns them that things are about to get worse on board the space station.
Quark comes up with a scheme to sell seats on the evacuation ships. There is a bit of a panic. Quark gets left behind (with a trunk full of latinum) after Rom gives Quark's place to a dabo girl.
A Bajoran team led by General Krim boards Deep Space Nine. They start looking for signs of life but the search is hampered by the sensors which have been sabotaged.
Kira and Jadzia find a spare runabout on one of the moons of Bajor. They get it up and running but they are spotted by Bajoran ships.
Kira and Dax crash land on Bajor after a dogfight with a couple Bajoran fighters. Sisko and the others aboard DS9 continue to evade the Bajoran forces that have boarded the space station. They use, in one case, a holo-suite to trick and trap a team of Bajorans led by Colonel Day.
Kira and Dax, with some help from Vedek Bareil make it to the Bajoran council with evidence which proves that Minister Jaro Essa is importing weapons for the Circle that are being provided by the Cardassians.
Li Nalas manages to convince General Krim that Colonel Day has withheld vital information. Krim decides that he’s had enough and hands control over DS9 back to Sisko. Colonel Day attempts to kill Sisko but but Li Nalas jumps in the way and is killed by the blast. Colonel Day is disarmed and taken into custody.
Thoughts
Steven Weber played the part of Colonel Day. I know him best from Wings but I've seen him in a few other things including an episode of Party Down (1.08 Celebrate Ricky Sargulesh) and Dracula Dead and Loving It (1995). He also appeared in one episode each of The Outer Limits (1995), and Tales from the Crypt.
On the whole I found all three episodes of this story to be overly ambitious. There are a few too many shortcuts taken to satisfy me. The bits in this episode with Dax and Kira felt very rushed. Hopefully this story served some purpose in terms of setting things up for future episodes.
