Star Trek: Deep Space Nine 2.02

The Circle

Kira departs Deep Space Nine and accepts an invitation from Vedek Bareil to stay at his order's monastery. Li Nalas takes over Kira's role on Deep Space Nine. Kira has a vision after looking into the Orb of Prophecy and Change. She seems to have trouble processing the contents of the vision but she keeps it to herself. She tries to find a place for herself in the monastery but it doesn't feel like the right place for her to be.

Odo and Quark work together to track down the source of arms that are being smuggled to Bajor. The source turns out to be Cardassian in origin. Odo suspects that the Bajorans receiving the weapons don't realize who is selling them the weapons as they are going through a middleman.

Kira is kidnapped from the monastery by agents of the Circle. Minister Jaro Essa turns out to be the leader of the Circle. He wants information from Kira. He has her tortured when she refuses to answer his questions.

Sisko finds out about what has happened to Kira. Quark's sources help them track down her location. Sisko leads a rescue team that gets her out of the Circle's hands and back on Deep Space Nine.

Minister Essa and Vedek Winn form an alliance. They give Sisko seven hours to evacuate Deep Space Nine. Sisko starts the evacuation with full knowledge that they can't possibly clear all of their gear off of the station before the deadline.

Thoughts

Dax, Bashir, Jake, and O'Brien are in this episode but play supporting roles.

Kira wears a different outfit at the monastery than she usually does on Deep Space Nine. It looked more traditional to me.

This episode more or less picks up where the last one left off. This episode feels rushed. There's a lot going on here. There is one more installment in this three-part story. It's okay but so far I'm not crazy about it.
