The Prophecy
The Titans battle Slade who has powers that he never had before this season of the show. They try to figure out what the story is behind the mark on his forehead that looks like the letter S. Raven figures out what is going on but it ties back to her own past and at first she keeps it a secret from then.
The episode ends with the reveal that Raven's father, Trigon, is Slade's boss. Raven explains to the other Titans that Trigon is coming and that she is supposed to help him.
Arella and the city of Azarath make a brief appearance in this episode. This is their only appearance in the series, according to my research.
This episode does not end on a high note.
My understanding is that the next three episodes won't have anything to do with Trigon but the last three episodes of the season will. The story which weaves through several (but not all) of the episodes in this season is an adaptation of The Terror of Trigon which ran in the first five issues of New Teen Titans (1984).
I don't love this episode. There's a lot of fighting and a certain amount of fan service for viewers who are familiar with the comic books from the early to mid-1980s. It feels wrong for Slade to be playing such a big role in this story and working for Trigon.
