Troq
The Teen Titans meet Val-Yor, a hero from another planet. They watch him defeat two Locrix, alien robots, singlehandedly and then go with him into space to help him fight more robots. He's nice to all the Titans, except Starfire. He looks down on her because she is a Tamaranean. He calls her Troq.
The others are oblivious to the way that Val-Yor is treating Starfire at first. They think that Troq is just a nickname until Starfire educates them. Troq is a derogatory term, a slur. Starfire helps Val-Yor to complete his mission and saves his life but he still doesn't change his tune. He just says she's pretty good for a Tamaranean.
Thoughts
Val-Yor bears a strong resemblance to Captain Atom, at least visually he does. Val-Yor's racist attitude toward Starfire is never described specifically as racist but that's what it is.
This was an excellent episode. I'm not a big fan of message episode but I think the writers did a great job with this one.
