Justice League 1.08

Fury

A face from Wonder Woman's past comes to man's world. She organizes a team of supervillains and proceeds to wreck havoc in a way that shock's her sister. In the end it falls on the women of the Justice League to save the day with a little bit of help from Queen Hippolyta of Themyscira, Diana's mother.

Genesis - In Their Own Words (2007)

I found this on Amazon Prime. It is also available as a DVD. It feels like a half or partially finished project at best. It is made up of concert footage and interviews (some for radio) that were done years before this movie was released. Most of the interviews are with members of the band but a few of them are with music journalists. The project only covers through the the second album that they did as a trio, Duke. It starts with their early days and seems to cover most of their albums through 1980. The aspect ratio of the movie seems off. I'm not sure exactly why. It was distracting.

Someone is selling drugs with Bushmaster's name on them. This is similar to what was happening at the opening of the season when someone was selling drugs with Luke's name on them. He helps Bushmaster to tear the place apart and fight off the Asian gangsters that are guarding the place.

Duckman 1.01

I, Duckman

Duckman is under attack. Someone is trying to kill him, with explosives. He has a hunch about who it might be but then that person gets bumped off by an explosive package. Duckman watches old home movies hoping to find a clue as to who it might be that wants him dead. The visuals of the old home movies are patterned after other cartoons: Steamboat Willie, Popeye, Yogi Bear, the Simpsons. In the end it turns out to be a case of mistaken identity. The bomber had the wrong guy. The episode ends on a sentimental note as Duckman shares a moment with Ajax, his eldest son.

UnReal 3.09

Codependence

Serena spends time in a sweat lodge with each of the three remaining men. Not much happens with Jasper. August strips naked and she follows suit. Owen talks to her about a horrible memory he has from his time in Iraq.

Rachel desperately tries to connect with someone after Dr. Simon questions whether she has any friends or a life outside of her job. Serena suggests that Rachel should come and work for her after the season is over. It sounds very tempting but by the end of the episode Rachel has pulled some tricks that probably sank any chance there was of Serena following through on that offer.

Polytropos

Alex and Val embark on a trip to see their mother. Laura comes with them even though she is still hung over. They travel in John's car, which he loaned to Val. Along the way things get a little weird. Laura throws up in the car. Alex puts unleaded gasoline in the car, which only takes diesel. They get stranded in a small town at least a hundred miles from home.

Alex keeps seeing a beautiful woman. He wants to commit himself to Rae but the vision of this woman drives him a little nuts. He is distracted by her when he is filling up the car. He spotted her before that in a diner where they stopped for a bite to eat. She is also staying at the motel where they are staying while they wait for John's car to get repaired. Alex runs into her at a bar and freaks out. He blames her. She sprays him with pepper spray.

Justice League 1.07

The Brave and the Bold

Flash and Green Lantern team up to battle Gorilla Grodd. The two heroes are not the best of friends. Flash is very informal and immature. Green Lantern is very serious and disciplined. Flash is constantly angering GL with his quips. Most of the other heroes, with the exception of Superman, show up in the second part of this story but for the most part the spotlight is on Flash and Green Lantern.

Aquaman (2018)

starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
directed by James Wan

I enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would. My hopes were not high. I was expecting a train or a shipwreck. In a sense that's what I got but there were some fun moments along the way. I even shed a tear or two at a couple pivotal moments towards the end of the movie. I thought some of the sea creatures were cool but there was a little too much exposition through monologue and dialogue to satisfy my tastes.

Aquaman (Momoa), aka Arthur, leaves the surface world, where he has spent most of his life, and travels to Atlantis to challenge Orm (Wilson), his half-brother. It was Mera (Heard) who convinced him to return to Atlantis. She fails to mention that she is engaged to Orm, who is getting ready to launch at attack on the surface world. Orm proves to be a little more difficult to defeat than Aquaman expected him to be.

Luke Cage 2.11

The Creator

A decent episode. Things continue to build toward the inevitable end which I am fairly certain will include a showdown between Mariah and McIver. The events of this episode are mostly followup on what happened at the end of last episode, the massacre at Gwen's.

The Phil Silvers Show 1.05

A.W.O.L.

Bilko goes to Chicago to retrieve Nagy, one of his men who has gone absent without leave (AWOL). The plan is to go there and get back within 24 hours but it doesn't work out that way. Nagy's sister is getting married and Bilko winds up staying longer than he had planned

This one opens a bit slow. The opening scene felt like filler and had little to nothing to do with the rest of the episode. Once Bilko gets to Chicago it picks up and has some nice moments, including one (involving a card game) that my father used to tell me about. On the whole I don't love it but I like some of the moments including the ending.

The Power of Grayskull (2017)

The Definitive History of the Masters of the Universe

directed by Randall Lobb

This documentary examines the development of the Masters of the Universe toy line and its associated interpretations in comic books, cartoons, and movies. About 2/3 of the movie focuses on the original line of toys, comic books, and cartoons. The focus shifts in the last half hour to focus on the Masters of the Universe movie and the efforts to bring back the toy line, cartoon, and comic books.

The movie starts by focusing on He-Man and his friends but somewhere around the midway point there is a segment about She-Ra. They talk about how and why she and her circle of characters were created and their popularity.

This time she is more open and honest about what they've been through up to this point. This time Owen says yes and takes her home to Colorado with him.

Bilko sees dollar signs but things don't work out exactly as planned. It takes considerably more effort than they originally anticipated to get the horse what it needs.

This one was fun. I don't think I liked it quite as much as the last one but it still gets a thumb's up from me.

Delirious (1991)

Starring John Candy, Mariel Hemingway, Emma Sams
Directed by Lawrence J. Cohen, Fred Freeman

Jack Gable (Candy) is a writer for a popular soap opera. He gets knocked in the head and wakes up in the world of the soap opera. He discovers that his typewriter is magical. Anything he types happens. The plot gets fairly convoluted beyond that description. I don't feel like going into all the twists and turns.

I thought some of the gags were fun. I liked the weird plot twists. The movie brought some smiles to my face but on the whole I can't see myself recommending it to most people. It is a bit of a hot mess that feels like it was slapped together either by committee or too quickly.
