Sudden Fear
Doctor Harleen Quinzell has been hiding from the police in Renee Montoya's apartment. She's been cooped up for months. She needs to get out. She does just that one night after Renee passes out from exhaustion. She reads the case files that Renee brought home with her. The victims, all students at Gotham University, seemed to die from fear. Harleen decides to dress up and visit the morgue to look at the bodies.
Harley Quinn is interrupted before she can get a good look at the bodies, first by a masked man and then by another masked man. The second one is Batman. The first masked man escapes. Batman captures Harley, knocks her out and takes her to his lair. They talk about the case. The likely suspect is Professor Burton, a doctor of chemistry.
They try to stop him from killing again, unsuccessfully, and then they discover Professor Burton's body. He died just like the others. Suspicion immediately turns to Burton's teaching assistant, Jonathan Crane.
Thoughts
Vicki Vale appears in one scene in this episode. I'm pretty sure that this is her first appearance in this show.
This was a good episode. I like it but it didn't blow me away with greatness. The ending is bittersweet. I assume that Harleen won't appear in the remaining four episodes in this season. Hopefully she will be back if there is a third season.
Notes
Jonathan Crane is the alter ego of The Scarecrow, a villain who uses fear gas on his opponents. The Scarecrow first appeared in Detective Comics 571 (Feb 1987).
