Flickers 1.06

Episode 6

Arnie and Maud aren't sure where they are going to turn for money. Arnie gives the actors a hard time for not trying harder. Arnie talks the owner of a funeral home into investing in the studio. The banker who walked out of the party in the last episode returns and is interested in learning more about the studio. He also decides to invest in the studio.

Corky Brown is at the studio late one night, goofing off with a friend, when a fire breaks out. Corky dies in the fire. The studio burns to the ground. Everything is lost except four reels of the movie on which they were working. The new backers of the studio decide to stand by the studio. More movies are made and the studio thrives.

Flickers 1.05

Episode 5

Gwendolyn Harper is angry because the male lead, who is much younger than her, won't give her the time of day.

Llewellyn objects to the way Arnie treats Maud and Letty. He threatens to quit but Arnie convinces him to stick around and to keep an eye on Letty.

Maud argues with Arnie about Letty. He does enough to convince Maud that she means more to him than Letty does.

Arnie throws a party in the hopes of mending some fences. Things don't turn out exactly as planned. Corky makes a scene and gets thrown out. Casey, the camera man, arrives at the party drunk and proceeds to throw up in the plants in front of everyone. The potential investors in Arnie's company walk out early when they see the kind of shenanigans that are a foot.

Flickers 1.04

Episode 4

Maud gives birth. Arnie continues to work. He doesn't come to see her and the baby until after she has been visited by Llewellyn and Clive. 

Arnie and Max argue over what direction they need the company to move. Arnie is concerned about how much they are spending. Max is concerned that no one will be interested in their picture if it isn't long. They decide to hire a stage actresss, Gwendolyn Harper, in the hopes that her name will help to generate interest.

Arnie sends Llewellyn to find Letty. Arnie abandoned her before he got married. She isn't feeling very charitably toward Arnie but she comes back.

Max and Arnie agree that Clara Brewer should be in their next picture. Dotty Brewer isn't very happy about it. Jack and his wife are concerned about the interest that Max is showing toward their daughter.

Maud and Arnie hire Captain Sandbeck to write a script for them. He has written stories for magazines. They want him to produce the script very quickly.

Flickers 1.03

Episode 3

Arnie and Maud get the studio built so the company can start to produce movies. They are short on cash. Arnie wants to turn to Cyril for money. Maud says no. Arnie wants to sell the house. Maud says no.

Max starts to shoot a movie that stars Corky Brown. Max gets into a fight with Corky. The fight is started by a stunt that Corky refuses to do. The double brought in to take the fall is much taller than Corky, who decides he's had enough and quits.

Casey, the camera man, and Clara, Lily the child star's older sister, flirt. Casey suggests that Max should put Clara in a movie. Max shoots down the idea, at first, but then asks Casey to take her picture.

Maud gets Arnie to dress more nicely. He goes to the bank to try and get a loan but that doesn't get them anywhere. Maud comes up with the idea of having Max direct a melodrama and letting Corky direct his own picture.

Flickers 1.02

Episode 2

Arnold and Lewellyn fall asleep at the breakfast after the wedding. Clive and Maud leave before her new hatband and his camera man wake up. Arnie rings Maud later on to talk. She has returned to her parents' house. The conversation doesn't go well and Arnold winds up hanging up Maud.

Arnold signs some deals and some actors, Corky Brown is one of them. Max Legendre, Brown's manager, insists on getting a piece of Arnold's company. Arnold also tries to talk Galloway, an old friend who knows how to develop film, into working for him.

Arnold and Llewellyn eventually find the house where Maude lives. She doesn't let him just walk in and take over. It looks like he will be sleeping alone until Maude surprises him and sneaks into his bed.

Flickers 1.01

Episode 1

This show is set in the early 20th century in the early days of movies in the UK.

Arnold Cole has a small operation renting and showing movies, in the UK, in the early 20th century. He has plans to improve his operation but he needs money in order to make his move. He wants to make his own movies instead of renting them from others.

Arnold turns to Clive and Maud, siblings, for the money. Maude asks a few questions of Arnold. She doesn't think much of him but ultimately she talks her father into converting part of the space in his department store into a theater.

Things don't work out for Arnold when a fire breaks out in the department store during a screening. Things don't work out for Maude when she finds out that the man she's been seeing is irresponsible and has gotten her pregnant.

Maud needs a husband. Arnold needs money. She suggests that they get married. They talk it over and he eventually decides that marrying Maud is in his best interests, so they do.
